During my last two college years, I felt the urge of wanting to travel more than ever. There were so many sites to see and places on my bucket list. I found a company called EF Ultimate Break and thought their trips looked incredible. However, of course I was skeptical. I had a difficult time finding any reviews with personal experiences with the company, and wasn’t sure how legitimate the reviews on their website were (I can now confirm, the website reviews are honest). Finally, I decided to risk it all and book my first trip to Europe with them and I am SO glad that I did. WHY I LOVE EF ULTIMATE BREAK
My favorite part of this company is that they have a trip almost anywhere in the world. It becomes extremely difficult for me to pick where to go next because there are so many wonderful trips. My first trip was Germany, Italy, and Switzerland and I had a blast! I picked this one because I would visit five countries and I wanted to see as much as possible. This trip was certainly fast paced, but I felt like I had enough time to do everything that I wanted and plenty of free time. There are also times on this trip with long travel days on a comfortable bus, which is something to consider when booking. However, not every trip has commutes as long as this one between destinations.

ACCOMMODATIONS
Are you worried about what accommodations will be like? I was too before I experienced it for myself. However, EF Ultimate Break does a great job in providing clean and safe hostels or hotels. You will be able to see where you are staying 30 days before your trip. I have never had an accommodation without Wi-Fi or air conditioning, which is great when going abroad. In the rare chance you are unhappy with where you are staying, you usually do not spend more than two nights in one hotel, and you are out and about during the day. You are always welcome to request a single room or only one roommate for a higher price. The trips that are labeled “Ultimate Plus” already have the rooms booked with just one roommate, rather than 4-6 people.
FREE TIME AND EXCURSIONS
EF Ultimate Break gives the option of excursions on each trip for an additional cost. I highly recommend doing these if it is within your budget because they are often people’s favorite part of the trip. If you opt out of an excursion, you will have that time to yourself. Don’t worry, even if you do book an excursion, there is plenty of free time to see and do your favorite things!
FLIGHTS
Okay, now lets talk about a big concern: flights. EF Ultimate Break books flights with most major airlines and does a good job with connection and arrival times. The first day is designed to be flexible in case you have flight troubles, so you won’t miss too much. I have had flights with American Airlines, British Airways, and United. Sometimes I like to check the price of the trip without flights and see how much a flight is on my own dime. This could save you some money, but I have noticed the prices with flights included tend to be about the same as booking your own. I would also only recommend booking your own flights if you fly into and fly out of the same city, because two one-way abroad flights will be more expensive. Finally, if you live somewhere remote, like Hawaii or Alaska, I would recommend booking your own flight and getting there early to prevent you from missing out on the fun!
LITTLE REMINDERS
- To travel with EF Ultimate Break, you must be between the ages of 18 – 35
- On a standard trip, you may have up to 4-6 roommates, but you have the option to pay extra for fewer roommates
- On a plus trip, you only have one other roommate
- There are usually about 30 travelers per group, but it doesn’t feel that big
- Generally prices are between $2,500 – 5,000 depending on the location, time of year, and type of trip
